Day 13
We had a breakfast of bacon and eggs before packing up and heading over to Warnambool for a sleeping bag! Two blankets have just not been cutting it and although we probably won't be in cold weather for long, we know that Kanagroo Island will be cold, as well as the south of Western Australia, so we decided it was worth it. I ended up getting walking boots too - thanks Anaconda for 30% off!

We then drove to Mt Gambier to pick up binoculars that Chris had ordered, I'll be able to see all the far away animals and birds now, yay!
Our final travel for the day was to Cape Banks lighthouse to camp for the night. It had the worst longdrop loo we've encountered so far. Chris also instilled a new fear - "I just can't help but imagine there's someone down there who's going to reach up and tickle my balls!" he said. Now. I already had images of spiders and flies crawling out and up into my unmentionables, now I have to banish that image too! Mind you, I don't have balls, so I suppose that someone wouldnt be interested in me...
After looking at the lighthouse and reading about a horrific shipwreck that happened (before the lighthouse was installed) we walked down and had a beer on beach.
It was very cold that evening as there was quite a bit of wind, but you know what? We had a very toasty night's sleep thanks to our new sleeping bag ❤️❤️❤️

Day 14
This was a big driving day as we were booked on the ferry to go over to Kangaroo Island the following day. We were booked at a camp-site at Rapid Bay, which is close to Cape Jervis, where you get the ferry from.
The most notable thing about the day is that Chris "Eagle Eyed" Grapulin saw an echidna on the side of the road. This was the main animal he wanted to see in the wild on his trip, so it was very exciting! He IS slightly disappointed it happened so early in the trip though 😂

The other notable thing was seeing The Bog Lobster. This was definitely my favourite Big Thing so far!

For bio security reasons, we had to wash the car before going to Kangaroo Island (KI). Two weeks of dust and bug guts - gone!

Rapid Bay camp-site was smack bang on the beach, and a lovely place to watch the sun go down. We were visited by feral cats as we cooked though, which was weird cos they looked really cute, but they would definitely scratch you if you tried to touch them!

Day 15
We got up fairly early and drove over to Cape Jervis to go catch our ferry. Only the driver is allowed in the car when boarding the ferry, so I had to wait with the other foot passengers.
The crossing was calm and easy. Once we were off the ferry, we drove closer to where our accommodation was. Chris saw a big hill with a LOT of steps up it, so we had to climb it! I donned my new walking shoes and hefted my less sore than yesterday, but still a bit tender, legs up the steps. This place is called Prospect Hill, and gave a lovely lookout over the eastern end of KI.

We went to Kingscote for some lunch, and to grab a few bits for dinner. We stopped at a honey place who are island famous for their honey ice cream. The young lady in the shop gave us a sample of some honey. It was delicious, with crystallised bits in, and we were like "we'll get some!" We got two pots of ice cream at $5.50 each, and then asked the lady which honey we'd tried as we couldn't remember the name. I grabbed a jar off the shelf and then she said "that'll be $68 please." And that's how we accidentally spent $57 on one 300g jar of honey. Oops! It's currently under lock and key in the Jimny and we have taken out extra insurance in case it gets stolen. If we have to go somewhere else where we have to dispose of honey products, we will turn right around and not go there 😉

| This is what a $57 jar of honey looks like... |
Sidenote: Chris reckons that's the most expensive honey ever and so I googled "most expensive honey" and we're not even close! There is a $1,600 of manuka honey for sale at David Jones. It's only 230g too! I also literally just checked the honey place's website and they sell one for $97 so we didn't even get the most expensive there. Is that enough justifying yet? 🤔😂
We then drove to our home for the next two nights. As it's my birthday tomorrow, we splurged a little on a cabin. It had a two night minimum, so what's a girl to do?

We had a shower, did some washing, did some blogging, watched the sun go down, had some picky bits for dinner and then went to sleep in a real bed. It was very nice indeed!
