Day 41
After a rainy night, we awoke to sunshine so that was nice. We hung out everything that we could to get dry for the day and then we went for a walk along Tractor Beach (far away in time) One way the beach had fun rock formations and then we went the other way where there were some really cool rock pools.

Then we went for a drive around the coast stopping at some lookouts in the area - it was a really really lovely afternoon. The Eyre Peninsula really does have a very attractive coastline and I do feel like we visited it all a bit too quickly, but we've got to leave some stuff for the next time we do this trip 😉

At one spot we stopped at, we saw a pod of dolphins playing in the surf. It was really lovely. There were probably about 30 of them. I got my binoculars out and we watched them for about 15 minutes.

And on this drive around probably the best thing of all was spotting five shingle back blue tongue lizards! It was very exciting! We found three of them within the space of about 20 minutes. The first one was really feisty and was hissing at us the whole time so we got to see a real close up of his blue tongue. The second one was a lot calmer. The third one was in a hole but don't worry Chris got him out 😉

We then headed into the closest town called Streaky Bay as Chris needed to do some computer work. We were out of data on our Starlink satellite, so we had to use the free Wi-Fi at the visitor centre even though they were closed - thankfully it was still on! We had dinner at the pub and then we went squidding on the Streaky Bay jetty. And guess what?! We saw squid! There were at least five of them in the water near the near the beginning of the jetty, so we were very excited about that. Maybe our luck was changing! We started fishing and heard a big noise out in the darkness and then there was a great big splash! Pretty sure it was a dolphin as we heard air coming out of its blowhole. And I guess dolphins still exist at night time too 😂 Anyway, then Chris caught a squid - woohoo!! I think maybe the dolphin had scared the squid off because we went back to where we'd seen them initially and they weren't there anymore. We got one though and that's a 100% increase on our last attempts! We drove carefully back to Tractor Beach (far away in time) in the dark. Not only did we not hit any kangaroos, we didn't see any either.
Day 42
We woke up to condensation/dew everywhere and everything was wet - all the stuff that we hung out to dry yesterday was wet - double bugger! Where we were camping was quite shaded so it took a while for the sun to get high enough to hit where we were but we gave it as long as we could to get everything as dry as we could. We were camping on sand as well so, yeah it wasn't the most fun of packups.

We then did a little scenic drive around Streaky Bay area including going to some blow holes, which was enormous fun - it was so loud when the wave crashed underneath and sent the air up through the holes! At high tide it would have been even more amazing but unfortunately we couldn't hang around that long.

We stopped off at a beach that had some great rock pools and Chris had a lot of fun looking in them all. (I had the wrong footwear on to join him!) I don't think he found anything though, but that's the story of our trip in South Australia.
We then went into Streaky Bay to get some lunch and a couple of other bits that we needed ankd found several things we'd been looking for at a gem of an op shop too!
We then drove to Ceduna, the last sort of major town before hitting the Nullarbor. Chris had yet more computer work to do and so we decided to stay in a cabin for two nights so that he had access to electricity and somewhere comfy to work. It was a very basic cabin but it did have a little oven so we had roast potatoes that night - delicious! And there was a TV - we haven't watched TV in quite a while! We watched a program about a little sausage dog called Valerie who went missing on Kangaroo Island and she ended up living there for over 500 days in the wilderness before she was rescued. It was a really interesting story and the fact that we've just been to Kangaroo Island and kind of knew what the place was like added to it really.
We had a terrible night's sleep, I think because we are so used to the swag now and this bed was too bouncy and the pillows were too puffy and oh we did not sleep very well, but the toilet was under the same roof which has not been the case since 17th March so that was nice 🤪

Day 43 - 44
Really nothing to report for these couple of days spent in Ceduna. Chris did a whole day of work and then realised he still had another whole day to do, so we ended up getting another night stay at the cabin. I just pottered around really - did some clothes washing, caught up on the blog (well I didn't really catch up, but I progressed with the blog), I read, I did some embroidery - it was actually, for me, a nice kind of relaxing recuperative time. But yeah we didn't do very much and we didn't see much of Ceduna either.
